An overview of the Data Management toolset

 

 

The Data Management toolset is provided for various general usage tools. Currently this toolset includes twelve tools that will allow you to create convex hulls, new personal or file geodatabases, fishnets, random sampling points, export/import data to/from KML/KMZ format, export data to GeoRSS, extract maps and also rename multiple datasets.

 

The following table lists the tools available in the Data Management toolset and provides a brief description of each.

 

Tool

Description

Convex Hull

 

Creates a convex hull feature class for all or selected input features.

Convex Hull Multiple

 

Creates a convex hull feature class for multiple input feature layers.

Create File GDB

 

Creates a new empty file geodatabase.

Create Fishnet (Hexagonal)

Creates a new fishnet feature class with hexagonal cells.

Create Fishnet (Rectangular)

Creates a new fishnet feature class with rectangular cells.

Create Personal GDB

Creates a new empty personal geodatabase.

Create Random Sampling Points

Creates a new feature class with randomly spread points.

Export Data to GeoRSS

Exports data from ArcGIS to GeoRSS format (.xml or .atom).

Export Data to KML

Exports data from ArcGIS to KML/KMZ format.

Extract Map

Extracts specified map areas or whole maps preserving all rendering and symbology settings.

Import Data from KML

Imports KML/KMZ files to ArcGIS datasets.

MultiRename Datasets

Renames multiple datasets at a time.
