Table Restructure: Specifying input and output datasets

Mark the radio-button of the input datasource type, and choose a feature layer or a standalone table in a pulldown list.

If some features/records in the chosen layer/table are selected, the checkbox "Use selected records" is activated (the number of selected records is indicated in parentheses). If this checkbox is marked, only selected features/records will be taken as a source for restructuring. If this checkbox is not marked, the whole attribute table will be restructured.

If the TOC window includes feature layers and/or standalone tables, corresponding radio-buttons and a pull-down list that allow choosing a layer or a table to restructure are available as well as the "None" radio-button, which, being marked, allows building a new table or layer.

If TOC window is empty, only the "None" radio-button is activated, allowing building only new table or layer.

To specify the output dataset select the type, either feature class or table, from the dropdown menu and specify the path for the output dataset:

After you have specified the path and the output dataset (shapefile or geodatabase feature class) the data type is indicated for your convenience:

There are three options available for output datasets:

Append to existing records

- this option enables tables concatenation functionality. If you need to concatenate two tables, select this option and browse to the existing table that you wish to add records to. Specified input data will be added to that existing table.

Add Data to current map

- this checkbox being marked, prescribes to add the resulting data (a layer or a table) to the current map. If the checkbox is not marked, resulting data will be stored but not added to the current map.

Create spatial index

- this option allows creating shapefile spatial indexes. It is inactive if the output dataset is a geodatabase feature class or a table.

Having specified all the required parameters, please, click "Next" to get to the next step.
