Sort Features/Records

 

 

Purpose

 

The tool is provided for permanent sorting of features/records in the specified feature class/table. The sorted output is written to a new feature class/table.

 

Description

 

The Sort Features/Records tool can be applied whenever a need in physical sorting of features/records arises. Sorting is performed by the specified attribute fields. Sorting by multiple fields is supported and fields order for sorting can be modified (fields can be moved in the list of selected fields). Ascending/descending order of values in the fields can be specified.

 

Sorting Features/Records

 

1. Select the "Sort Features/Records" tool from the XTools Pro Table Operations menu.

2. Select the input feature class or table in which you want to sort features or records.

3. Specify the name and location of the output table or feature class.

4. Select fields to sort features or records.

5. Is Shape field is selected for sorting then specify the spatial sort order.

6. Specify ID field to store input features IDs.

7. Press Run to sort selected features/records.

 

 

 

Values order in the selected fields can be specified as ascending or descending. For that simply double-click on the order icon beside the field name to change the order.
