Make Selected Layers the Only Selectable

Purpose

The new feature provides prompt and convenient way to make layers selected in table of contents in ArcMap the only selectable. Besides, there is an option to make all layers selectable with just a mouse click.

Description

Working with maps containing a large number of layers it is not convenient to make required layers selectable using List by selection in the table of contents in ArcMap. It is required to constantly switch between the two tabs in TOC and scroll in each tab for the needed layers:

Make Selected Layer the Only Selectable tool allows to make one or more layers selected in TOC the only selectable, or make all layers selectable a lot faster, with just one or two mouse clicks and without using the List by Selection tab. The new feature is available from the XTools Pro toolbar or from the layers context menu.

Usage

Select one or more layers in the ArcMap TOC window and click on the Make Selected Layer the Only Selectable tool icon on the XTools Pro toolbar. Then selected layers will become the only selectable. Same way, click on the Make Selected Layer the Only Selectable tool icon and from the drop down menu select Make All Layers Selectable, then all layers in the TOC will become selectable.

Note:

- Make Selected Layer the Only Selectable command works with Data Frames where you select layers (either active or inactive), at that nothing is changed in all other Data Frames.

- Make All Layers Selectable command is applied only to the layers in active Data Frame.
