Create Intersection Points

Purpose

Create Intersection Points tool intersects two input layers and outputs intersection points. Input layers can be polylines and polygons.

Description

The tool allows ArcGIS users to create intersection points intersecting two input layers. Besides, if the same layer is used as both the input and intersection layers then self intersection points will be created.

Requirements: input layers must be polylines or polygons.

Usage

  1. Select the "Create Intersection Points" item from the XTools Pro Layer Operations menu.

  2. Select the input layer containing the features that you wish to intersect.

  3. Specify the name and location of the output point feature class.

  4. Select the intersection overlay layer containing the features that will be intersected with the input features.

  5. Select if you wish to remove duplicates in the output points layer. The option can be useful when intersecting polylines or polygons with the other adjacent polygons which may result in creating duplicate intersection points.

  6. Press Run to perform the intersection operation.
