Message I have upgraded "clean" install to Win 7. I am now having problems installing XTools.

The installation hangs during the Visual C++ Distribution installation. After several minutes I get an error 1935.

Can someone please help!

Thanks

Message Phillip,

I've sent you an email regarding this your problem, did you receive it?
Windows 7 itself is not a problem - I am using XTools Pro 6.1 with ArcGIS 9.3.1 on Windows 7. It installs and works without any problems.

Regards,
Andrei

Message I can't install it on Windows 7 either. Visual c++ hangs in the same manner. I tried installs as vista and got an install window from xtools and then an error again "unable to register the dll/ocx: regsvr32 failed with the exit code 0x3" No luck after 6 tries.

Message Thanks to all for posting in this separate thread so it's easier to communicate and gather all such posts in the same place.

Numi and jhenrie, we would ask you to send us your XTools Pro setups logs:
%Temp%\Setup Log 2009-11-nn #001.txt

In addition, we would also ask to send us the Event logs from your machines related to XTools Pro installation. Here is the instruction how you can get it:

1. First, please download the Log Parser utility from the Microsoft site:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/tools/logparser/default.mspx
2. Install Log Parser
3. Try to install XTools Pro 6.1 again, get the error message
4. Run the command line AS ADMINISTRATOR and enter:

"%programfiles%\log parser 2.2\logparser" "SELECT * FROM System, Application, Security TO c:\xtools.log WHERE TimeWritten >= SUB( TO_LOCALTIME(SYSTEM_TIMESTAMP()), TIMESTAMP('10', 'mm') )"

This will save events from the last 10 minutes to the log file C:\xtools.log

5. Send us this log file

Besides, please see if you have the file ATL80.dll in your system in this folder:
C:\Windows\winsxs\ or elsewhere

Philip, your case seems to be sort of specific. In fact, your XTools Pro setup log says you still have Vista SP2 on your machine. Anyway, please send us your Event log as well?

Regards,
Andrei

Message First off my original windows installation was corrupt! I have since reinstalled.

I still was experiencing the same issues as described above.

I began a search on ESRI forums and found a thread that described my problem.

The post by Jim Tochterman on August 28th solved my issues. I followed it to the letter.

The link to my solution.
